A FEW COMMON QUESTIONS
GASTROMOB, EXPLAINED.
The short answers about finding local food, meeting people, and how the whole thing works.
What is GastroMob?
GastroMob brings people together around local food. The Monthly Mob gives a community a shared restaurant to visit; Share a Table helps people make a smaller meal plan any day of the month. Food is the excuse. Community is the point.
Does it cost anything to join or use?
No. GastroMob has no member dues, attendance requirements, or fee for using Share a Table. Everyone pays the restaurant directly for their own food and tip. Local restaurants can claim and manage their GastroMob page for free.
Do I have to live near a chapter?
No. Chapters organize local activity, but you can use GastroMob without joining one. You can browse food, use the Randomizer, play games, and start a Share a Table meal wherever you are.
How does a Monthly Mob choose its restaurant?
Locals nominate places and vote in a public poll. The winning restaurant is community chosen, not paid placement. A kickoff starts the spotlight week; people can visit during the week even if they cannot make the kickoff. See how the Monthly Mob works.
What is a GastroMob approved place?
A place we stand behind. We’ve held a Mob, shared a table, hosted an event, eaten there, or know it to be a good steward of its community.
Does a Mob restaurant pay GastroMob or give the group free food?
No. The point is to show up as regular customers. GastroMob does not ask for a special menu, free meal, discount, or other special treatment. Diners order from the restaurant and pay their own bills and tips.
Does a Share a Table plan reserve a restaurant table?
No. It is a plan among diners, not a restaurant reservation. The Table Starter should contact the restaurant and follow its normal process if the group needs a reservation or has a special seating request.
Who can use Share a Table?
Share a Table is intended for adults meeting at public restaurants. Guests choose what they are comfortable sharing, and the host confirms who gets a chair. A host can decline a request or block someone from future tables. Read the Share a Table guide and safety and privacy help before your first meal.
Are restaurant hours, menus, prices, and ratings guaranteed?
No. Details can change, and some community-contributed menus or hours have not been confirmed by the restaurant. Check with the restaurant before you travel or rely on an item, price, allergy detail, or opening time.
Who can post a review?
Member reviews publish immediately. Event guests can submit reviews from their event visit for approval.
Does GastroMob track my phone’s location?
GastroMob does not continuously track your movement. A location-based search or saved area alert uses location only when you choose that feature. See the Privacy Notice and Maps & location information for details.
How can a restaurant claim its page?
Open For restaurants, find the listing, and verify the owner email. The page and owner tools are free. A restaurant can also invite up to five employees and choose which venue tools they can use.
How can a business advertise or discuss investment?
See the advertising and investor information. Restaurant listings and owner tools are free; paid corporate placements are quote-only and do not buy a Mob win or guaranteed audience. No investment terms are published on the page.
Where does a donation go?
The Donate page lists current community campaigns and their direct giving links. Those contributions go to the named campaigns and are separate from GastroMob’s business revenue.
